Comparing Sizes of Cruise Ships

cruise ship

Below are some of the largest cruise ship sizes. These include the Royal Caribbean’s Wonder of the Seas (Carnival's Mardi Gras) and the Norwegian Gem (Norwegian Gem). Compare the capacity and size of each ship quickly to decide which one is right. If you travel with a large family, it is worth looking at smaller ships that have more room.

Titanic

If you've ever seen "Titanic," you probably remembered what a huge ship it was. While the Titanic is a large ship, it isn’t quite comparable to today’s largest cruise vessels. The Symphony of the Seas (over 80,000 tons) is the largest vessel in service. Royal Caribbean’s Wonder of the Seas follows next.

Both Symphony of the Seas as well as Titanic are tall ships. However, Titanic has nine decks while Symphony of the Seas has 18 decks. It is approximately 22 stories taller. The two ships also have similar gross tonnage, which is the internal volume of the ship, ranging from the keel to the funnel, from the bow to the stern. This figure is used for safety rules and port fees.

Royal Caribbean's Wonder of the Seas

With more than 6,900 passengers, Royal Caribbean's Wonder of the Seas is one of the largest cruise ships in the world. The new ship, which was built in France, measures 1,188 feet long with a crew strength of 2,300. The Wonder of the Seas has more space and amenities that its predecessor, the Symphony of the Seas. It is also twice as tall at 236 feet as it is long.

The Wonder of the Seas, which has 2,759 rooms, is the largest cruise vessel in the world. It's also the longest ship, at 27759 staterooms, and is longer than any Nimitz-class aircraft carrier. The ship was ordered by the Royal Caribbean Group in 2016, and it has been a long wait. Construction was progressing on schedule until a partial sector shutdown forced a postponement.

Carnival's Mardi Gras

Carnival Mardi Gras, one of Carnival's newest vessels, will make its debut in July 2021. It features six entertainment zones, including an indoor water park and a ropes track. Its roller coaster called the Bolt travels at speeds as high as 40 mph. A RedFrog Tiki Bar flanks one of the ship’s pools.

Carnival was the original operator of some the largest cruise ships worldwide. The cruise line has resisted building larger ships for many years. Carnival's Mardi Gras ship is the only one on this list with 50 cruise ships.

Norwegian Gem

When it comes to comparing cruise ship sizes, you will find that the Norwegian Gem is smaller than the Oasis of the Seas. Although both ships boast spacious, modern accommodations they offer different amenities. If you're looking for a more affordable option, the Norwegian gem offers more options for dining, which may be a plus if your budget is tight.

With 2,394 berths, the Norwegian Gem is one of the largest cruise ships. It is 40% smaller than the Norwegian Epic but still offers many amenities. A Mandara Spa and a Body Waves Fitness Center are available on the ship. There is also a nightclub and casual cafés for guests.

Norwegian Cruise Line's Braemar

The Fred. It is one of the smaller ships in the Fred. This ship's smaller size allows it to dock in more remote locations and navigate narrower waterways. The Braemar's beautiful interior and cascading decks aft make it a great choice for late-night drinks or lunches.

In addition to Braemar, Norwegian Cruise Line also has ships named Norwegian Sky and Norwegian Sun. These ships were built in 1999/2001 and are the smallest of the company's vessels. As such, they are ideal for those who want a more personal cruise and care more about the destinations than about the amenities and activities. Each ship features multiple dining rooms with buffets as well specialty restaurants. There is also a steakhouse, French bistro, as well an Italian trattoria.

How To

How to avoid being seasick while on a cruise

You can avoid seasickness by wearing a cap while on cruise. A wide-brimmed hat helps prevent motion sickness by keeping the head from moving too much.

Also, a hat helps keep water off your face, which reduces the humidity. This makes it easier to breathe for those who experience dizziness when inhaled moist air.

Drink plenty of fluids. Avoid alcohol or caffeine. These drinks dehydrate the body and make it harder for fluids to move around the stomach. Drinking enough liquids will help reduce the amount of salt in the bloodstream. Salt causes the body to retain water which leads to nausea.

If you do feel nauseous, try eating something salty. Salty foods increase the production of hydrochloric, which helps to break down food.

If none of these tips work, there are medications you can take to relieve seasickness. Side effects may include dry mouth or constipation, blurred eyes, headaches, dry mouth, dry eye, dry nose, dry mouth, dry stomach, dry mouth, dry vision, dry cough, and dry eyes.
